What is Ahuti?
Ahuti is the process of offering oblations of food mixed with ghee to the sacred fire with various mantras ending with ‘Swaha’ beej. It is offered with complete devotion to Para Brahman Bhagavan. All the devas and devis get their share from it including everyone in this entire creation starting from Brahma ji to the lowest of the creatures including humans, rishis, siddhas, Prits (ancestors), nine planets, etc.
Why should we give ahuti?
As per Sri Sri Mounibaba, ahuti must be offered everytime in fire before eating anything. Even the water that we drink, must be a prasad. As per Sri Krishna in Gita, anything that is being consumed without offering it to God first is just sin. Food has a lot of significance in Sanatan Dharma and our scriptures and sadhus speak on length on the importance of taking purified food or prasad. Food coming from a wrong source can create bad samskaras within you and affect your spiritual journey. Food, if being a prasad, can greatly help you in your spiritual journey, keep your mind calm, destroys tremendous sins, increases your prana shakti greatly and even clears the path of susumna for kundalini to pass properly. God gets greatly pleased when someone offers ahuti.
Fire is considered as ever pure by our saints and shastras. It purifies even the most impure thing. It removes all negative influence of anything. And the ahuti offered in the fire goes directly to God or the devata invoked via his mantra.
Ideally we should create a a yajna kunda with the Brahma Yantra established on it and with proper ingredients the yajna must be done devotionally, offering oblations to it. But due to lack of resources and unfavourable circumstances, our Gurudev Sri Sri Mounibaba kindly eased our way and he asked to offer it in a candle, just like the photo above. Offer the food to the fire in the candle invoking the mantras, mentioned below
Ahuti Mantra (Short Version)
If we are planning to do ahuti in special days, it can take a longer time. But for daily kriyas, Mounibaba asked to give ahuti in the minimum following mantra.
Always remember to purify the food first by loudly chanting Om and Hom three time by placing the palms above the food
