Message from Gurudas (1st Dec, 2023)

On the auspicious day of December 1, 1997, following the divine order of Guru Dev Shri Shri Mouni Baba, after his physical departure, we established the Anandamoy Mouni Baba Mission through a joyful celebration. Devotees from various communities of Rani Bari, Brahminshasan, Lathirghat, Dasgram, Tangbari, Shanibari, and other villages attended, expressing their heartfelt devotion to the lotus feet of Shri Shri Mouni Baba. Today, reminiscing about that day brings tears to the eyes.

Though I received the name Gurudas, I have not been able to accomplish anything special. Nevertheless, the name of Shri Shri Anandamoy Mouni Baba Mission has found recognition among some devotees in Assam, Tripura, West Bengal, and even distant London. With the blessings of the Guru and the divine, our main mission remains the welfare of humanity, prioritizing human values over caste, religion, and language. Despite this, it is our duty to establish the foundation and truth of Sanatan Dharma, even if the path ahead is unknown.

The current era is witnessing the influence of a dark age among people, characterized by differences in national, religious, and linguistic beliefs leading to violence, hatred, and more. To stop this, we must eradicate evil conduct, disbelief in God, and the absence of fear of God, and prevent society from heading towards destruction due to the lack of consideration for consequences.

Today, despite advancements in material science and various innovative ways of education, employment, and savings, people lack inner peace. The cry for help is heard from all directions, and even with progress, humanity is engulfed in chaos. The absence of repentance for any wrongdoing, lack of shame in sinful actions, and the society’s focus on materialistic pursuits lead to the downfall of human society.

In the present age, with the spread of education and science, the thoughts of previous births, past deeds, and the unknown future occupy the minds of many. Sadhus and saints have no worldly responsibilities, yet they guide people through their teachings. We are practical beings, desiring to live and thrive in the present. However, the thoughts about the present are absent in the minds of many.

The actions and teachings of various saints and great personalities of different communities are known to people, but there is no sign of progress in humanity. Instead, regression is more visible. Lack of truthfulness, corrupted characters, disbelief in God, and a penchant for pleasure lead everyone towards sinful activities. Even those seeking alms are competing in competitions, joining the educated wealthy to live a life of extravagance.

Gurudev, I say to you, the patience and courage to follow your teachings are no longer present today. Even with so much sadhana power and capabilities, after imparting spiritual education from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari for 95 long years, it is unknown how your purpose will be fulfilled.

We, like fools, do not understand how to lead our lives, and I cannot comprehend how your teachings will reach people and inspire them to follow a righteous path. I understand this much: only when every person’s mind is awakened to goodwill, forgetting the differences of race, religion, violence, and hatred, can we hope for global peace and the welfare of humanity. But I don’t know if anyone is ready to embrace such a vision.

Sadhus and saints, who are peaceful beings (in small numbers), spend their lives chanting the ista mantras of the divine, meditating, and remembering God, aiming to bid farewell to the material world. If everyone does not adopt a path of righteousness, free from violence and hatred, and if repentance is not felt for every person’s sins, then lasting peace in the world is impossible. God will not allow His created world to be destroyed. Hence, some people are awakening with good intellect, allowing them to choose their own paths and helping others walk on the right path.

Sadguru Sri Sri Mounibaba, has planted the seed of Sanatan Dharma or the essence of humanity in the sky, in the air, from the Assam Sea to the Himalayas. Some have already sprouted in the fertile soil, transforming into trees, and more will continue to grow. In the garden of the Lord’s created world, they will blossom and bear fruit to fulfill the deficiencies in human society. Perhaps one day, they will enchant the entire world according to the divine will.

We all want to witness progress. If our desire aligns with the divine vision, then transformation will inevitably occur, making the impossible possible. I, unfortunately, couldn’t achieve anything. Adherence to family duties took over much of my spiritual time. With regret, I now approach the time to depart for the afterlife. The divine work is something the Lord Himself does and will continue to do. It seems like the dear Lord has sent this poor me to do something for this world by giving me birth in this human race. But life passed in mere enjoyment, and no progress was made.

Under the shelter of Sri Sri Mounibaba, those of you who are present today should not abandon him and should progress on the path of life with humility. Provide good upbringing to your children so that they do not become corrupt. Guru will surely accomplish his work through you. Lord Krishna will definitely assist, and there is no room for doubt.

Since I, the helpless, took shelter of my Guru, He will surely uplift me at His holy feet, and until the end, I will strive to do my duties. I will tell you what you should do. Go forward with a beautiful heart, stay joyful, and chant the guru mantra. Fulfill your duties to the best of your ability. Just as you do for yourself, help your neighbours or those who are in need. Everyone can contribute in some way. Since we have taken human birth, it is essential to do something for ourselves that pleases the Guru.

Remember one thing: SadGuru never dies, but just leaves their physical cage. They come to the world by the divine will. For some time they practice sadhana as per the ancient rule and order, and then they teach people for the rest of their life. When they come as an avatar of God, they never say they are God. They come in the form of devotees. We understand this from the life story of Lord Mahaprabhu. Even though he was an incarnation of Lord Krishna, he spent his whole life as a devotee, imparting teachings and initiation. Today, we can understand from their activities that they were not just devotees. For this reason, I say that these great personalities come to the world following the tradition of old Sanatana dharma.

We should follow in their footsteps, and Guru Sri Sri Mounibaba was indeed a great ideal Mahapurush, as I have mentioned to you many times back as well as in the books I have written like the divine biography. I am now making an effort to publish my autobiography and ‘A Glimpse of Mounibaba’ book. Reading these, you will learn a lot for sure . Make an effort so that our human birth does not go in vain on this earth.

Now, as we are alive for a few more days before departing to the afterlife, let’s make an effort to experience the glory of the guru within ourselves and attempt to convey teachings to humanity. The guru has forbidden me and many from taking renunciation/sanyas. He said, “You can lead a monastic life even while completing your household duties. Finish your worldly responsibilities first. Only then can you engage in true sadhana.” As Sri Ramakrishna said, “Keep one hand raised towards the Divine, and with the other, perform your worldly duties. When your worldly duties are complete, then you can raise both hands to offer salutations to God and engage in His worship.”

Even within the practice of worldly duties, we can spend our time in contemplation and focus our minds internally in the inner chambers of heart. Although Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita that controlling a restless mind is difficult, try repeatedly to redirect your mind away from worldly matters and concentrate on internal peace. God doesn’t command us with force to do it but advises us to make an effort. Even though He knows special sadhana won’t happen from fools like us, still, he let us make an effort.

There’s a saying: “If my devotee takes one step towards me, I take ten steps towards them.” So, with this trust, as much as we can, let’s make an effort, and surely, the Lord will help us and is helping us. May our afterlife be good. If we cannot attain liberation in this birth, and we have to take another birth, let it be in a good family. The Sadguru has said that liberation can be achieved at a maximum of three births after initiation. We need to prepare ourselves for both life and devotion. Many don’t understand the meaning of devotion (bhajan). When we remember the name of God, the God appears. The name and personality of the name (God) and the one who gives us the name (Sadguru) are all same —this is true knowledge. If we can contemplate on this a bit, concentrate our minds and hearts, then it becomes bhajan. And doing Kirtan (or Hari Kirtan) is the best form of Bhajan. Especially for the people of Kali Yuga, Mahaprabhu has repeatedly said that singing the Kirtan is the easy and suitable path. Our Gurus also said it and continues to say it. If we make an effort in this way, everyone will attain auspiciousness.

Jai Guru Jai Guru Jai Guru.
